This is Part III in this series on understanding the election process.
If you haven’t yet, I suggest that you read
Part I : What is a Caucus?, and
Part II : Delegate and Superdelegate.
On June 28, Nebraska will be the last state to hold its Republican primaries. The last Democratic primaries will be in South Dakota on June 3. We might, by then, have found out who the Democratic nominee is.
After both parties have decided on a nominee, however, each will hold its convention:
- Democratic National Convention (DNC) – August 25-28 in Denver, Colorado
- Republican National Convention (RNC) – September 1-4 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Note: both parties always schedule their convention in the summer preceding Election Day (November 4th).
