Update: Deleting Online Accounts (Jobster)
Posted by Lau on April 16, 2008
This is a follow up post to Spring cleaning: Online account, where I described the steps I started taking to clean up my accounts.
A few people ended up here searching for the terms: “i want delete my jobster account” or “how to delete a jobster account”.
I wrote earlier that I sent an e-mail to customerservice@jobster.com requesting my account to be deleted. As of today, I have not received any answer.
Jobster’s Privacy Policy states that:
Opt-Out/Correct/Delete/Deactivate
You may elect not to receive future communications from Jobster or to discontinue use of our Service. If you are a registered User, please log in and visit your account settings page and uncheck the box related to sending information to you via email. You may also email us at customerservice@jobster.com.
Needless to say that this didn’t work. So, today, I filled out the Contact Us form, and received an acknowledgment: “Thank you for using Jobster. We have received your information and will follow up with you shortly should you require further assistance.” Will keep you posted.
Another “Needless to say…”: I read the privacy policy/term of use before I sign up to anything from now on, to find out how easy it is to delete an account.
~~ Update ~~
I received a confirmation that my account was deleted a few minutes ago. Thing is: I can still log in to my account.
~~ Update 2 ~~
I received another e-mail confirming that my account was deleted, with a note: “Your account has been deleted; please note if you log back in it will reactivate your account. If you wish to verify that your account has been deleted, please try searching for yourself under the ‘Find People’ option in Jobster.com”
